George Fox University announces adjunct teaching opportunities in Sociology, for Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters, beginning August 2019.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide classroom instruction for one or more of the following courses: Principles of Sociology (lower-level introductory major and general education course), Crime and Deviance, Juvenile Delinquency, Social Theory (all upper-level major courses).
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers in a timely manner. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records, and record these in university system in a timely manner. Schedule office hours for individual instruction as needed.


  • Master's degree in Sociology required; Ph.D. preferred. An applicant who holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology combined with a graduate degree in a related field (e.g. Social Work, Criminal Justice) will be considered.
  • Teaching experience at the college level preferred.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
