George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Psychology at the Newberg campus for the 2023-24 academic year. Although the area of specialty is open, preference will be given to either a clinical psychologist or experimental psychologist. Courses may include human development, abnormal psychology, biopsychology, psychological testing, learning, or social psychology.

The Department of Psychology is one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus and offers a B.A. in Psychology as well as a B.S. in Psychological Science with several specialization tracks. The department is a leader in student development with a high percentage of our students going on to graduate programs. We are also committed to positively impacting and serving our community as we develop highly skilled students.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching one General Education course in addition to courses within the Department of Psychology.
  • Advising students.
  • Developing and sustaining a research program that incorporates majors in the research process.
  • Possible course development.
  • Participating in the work of the department and the university, including serving on university committees as needed.

Qualifications

  • Applicants who have a PhD, PsyD or EdD or who are ABD. will be considered, but must have an earned doctorate degree in psychology, or a related field, by the time of appointment.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • Capable of teaching both in-person and online
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • A record of relevant scholarship for tenure track positions
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
  • Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.

Salary and Rank

Appointment is at the Assistant Professor level. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
