Adjunct Faculty in Project Management

WORK SCHEDULE:             Part-time, distance (online) or local one night per week

START DATE:                        January 2020

POSITION OVERVIEW:  Adjunct faculty members are employed on part-time contracts on a semester-by-semester basis for specified classes or services. Local classroom courses are held from 6 pm to 10 p.m. one night a week, incorporate online activities, and sometimes include a Saturday session. Distance (online) courses require daily monitoring of student postings and interaction with students as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Prepare a syllabus (courses have an approved textbook and established learning outcomes. A sample syllabus may be provided)
  • Prepare instruction that reflects the established learning outcomes
  • Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Instruct and guide the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Assess and return student work within one week of submission; when larger projects demand more time, notify students of anticipated completion date
  • Counsel students as needed on their performance and progress in the course
  • Build and use a FoxTALE (Moodle) site
  • Attend at least one adjunct faculty meeting each calendar year and/or be active in online discussion forums
  • Remain up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
  • Stay informed about changes and innovations in area of expertise
  • Adhere to University and Department policies

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree required; terminal degree preferred
  • Teaching experience with adults preferred
  • Experience in the subject area is required
  • A commitment to the George Fox Statement of Faith and Community Lifestyle Statement

COMPENSATION: $800 per credit hour for adjuncts who hold a master's degree; $900 per credit hour for adjuncts who hold a doctoral degree
