Adjunct Instructor of Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

George Fox University announces an adjunct faculty position in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, to begin in January 2019.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary teaching responsibilities involve three weekly lectures and a lab in the mechanical and biomedical engineering concentrations' course ENGE 260 Circuits and Instrumentation; essentially an electric circuits course for non-electrical engineering students. Two sections of lectures and two sections of labs need to be filled. 
  • Course Description: An introduction to DC and AC circuit theory, electronics, and instrumentation. Specific areas of study include Ohm's law, basic circuit analysis techniques, electrical power, motor selection, circuit simulation software, measurement methods, various types of instrumentation devices, and data acquisition. Three lectures and one laboratory per week. Prerequisites: ENGR 152 Engineering Principles II and PHYS 212 General Physics with Calculus II.
  • The two sections of lectures are scheduled for MWF 2:00-2:50PM and MWF 3:00-3:50PM. The labs are scheduled for Tues 1:30-3:20PM and Tues 3:30PM-5:20PM.  If necessary, the lectures and labs can be covered separately by different adjunct positions.   

Qualifications

  • B.S. or higher is required in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or another related field such as Biomedical, with preference given to candidates holding an advanced degree.
  • Applicants should have professional experience in related industries and/or teaching experience in related fields.
  • Instructors will be expected to meet class regularly, manage and give feedback on assignments, be available for communication with students, and work professionally and collegially with all students and faculty.
