Adjunct Instructor of Interior Design

Position Description: George Fox University announces openings for adjunct faculty in Interior Design. This position will teach courses in the BFA Interior Design program including courses on material sourcing, residential and commercial interior design, and technical drawing skills.

The work of our new adjunct colleague will include, but is not limited to:

  • Teaching broadly in the design curriculum for the following courses:
    • Interior Foundations - an early design course utilizing hand drawing and early design process
    • Materials, Resources and Lighting - a sourcing course for both residential and commercial interior design including finishes, materials, furniture, lighting and textile sourcing
    • Detailing Interiors - CAD drafting techniques for detailing in a construction document set
  • Supporting our commitment to diverse voices and non-western population representation. Successful candidates should demonstrate a commitment to this ethos and/or a willingness to approach their teaching practice centering on these principles.

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (MFA) in a relevant field is preferred. Candidates with extensive industry experience lacking a terminal degree are encouraged to apply.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years experience teaching in art and design curriculum, with experience as a practitioner. If industry experience is applicable with no teaching experience, applications may still be considered.
  • NCIDQ, LEED AP, WELL AP or other professional interior design specific qualifications preferred.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success and/or aptitude for remote, hybrid, and face to face instruction in studio, lab, and theory-based courses.
