Adjunct Professor of Political Science/Government

Qualifications

  • A master's degree in politics or government is required; Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential. Experience teaching at the college level is preferred


Two courses are available Fall 2017:

 

PSCI 150 Introduction to Politics

  • (catalog) An introduction to the study of the use of political processes to decide public policy and the distribution of resources within and among communities and nations. Systems of government, and individual behaviors and informal political processes within those systems, will be examined using examples from various parts of the world throughout history. In the process, students will begin to explore the major questions of political philosophy, civic leadership, and Christian public ethics.
  • Meets Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8:00-8:50 AM; 8/28-12/15
  • Instructor must be able to effectively introduce students enrolled in this general education course to the four main fields of political science'political theory, American politics, comparative government, and international relations.
  • Instructor will be expected to meet class regularly, manage and give feedback on assignments, be available for communication with students, and work professionally and collegially with students and faculty

PSCI 190 American Government

  • (catalog) The theory and practice of the federal government and the study of key issues in government in general.
  • Meets Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10:00-10:50 AM; 8/28-12/15
  • The instructor must be able to effectively introduce students to the structure and dynamics of American politics at the federal level, including some historical perspective especially regarding the drafting of the Constitution. The instructor should be able to draw on some familiarity with political science literature and/or practical experience with American government to add to and enrich material found in a standard textbook. 
  • Instructor will be expected to meet class regularly, manage and give feedback on assignments, be available for communication with students, and work professionally and collegially with students and faculty
