Assistant Professor of Education - Undergraduate Teacher Education

George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty position in Undergraduate Teacher Education, to begin in August 2017.  This is a 24-semester hour position spread over fall and spring terms each year.  The successful candidate will be assigned an instructional load that is comprised of 24 hours of teaching in elementary education and ESOL courses.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching courses within the curriculum of the Department of Undergraduate Teacher Education in areas such as: ESOL, curriculum design with ESOL classroom management, edTPA supervision, student teaching supervision, classroom assessment
  • Ability to develop and sustain an ongoing program of relevant scholarship.
  • Participation in the work of the department and the university, including advising and serving on university committees as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Applicants must have significant P-12 teaching experience in public schools.
  • Advanced degree required (doctorate preferred) in education with a focus on elementary education and ESOL.
  • A strong record of using technology to enhance education in P-12 classrooms.
  • Online teaching experience at the graduate level.
  • Background and experience necessary to teach graduate courses in areas of specialization that may include some or all of the following:  ESOL curriculum and instruction, learning theory, human development, and multicultural education.  
  • The ability to structure and maintain growth in students in the arena of educational technology.
  • Ability to teach, study, and serve in a growing and diverse community of professionals focused on preparing transformative P-12 educators.   
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.  Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
