Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy

George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty position in physical therapy, to begin in August 2021. The ideal applicant will have extensive experience in exercise and bone physiology, biochemistry/epigenetics, and falls prevention. Other areas of teaching specialization and expertise also includes mathematical modeling of human movement and musculoskeletal loading. A strong research emphasis in epigenetics and elderly is preferred.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in the design, development and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Participate in the development of individualized learning objectives.
  • Assist with CAPTE and Accreditation documents.
  • Teaching courses within the curriculum of the Department of Physical Therapy in areas such as applied and pathophysiology.
  • Teaching in the professional research course series
  • Ability to develop and sustain an ongoing program of relevant scholarship.
  • Participation in the work of the department and the university, including advising and serving on university committees as needed.

Qualifications

  • Earned Ph.D. degree in physical therapy or related field.
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
  • Design and conduct independent and/or collaborative research in clinical education or related areas.
  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
  • Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S. When employed by George Fox University, employees must be a resident of one of the following states: Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, New York, Ohio, or Texas.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
