Job Description

George Fox University is excited to offer a 9-month, tenure track, faculty position, at the Assistant Professor level in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Our team are eager to welcome a new faculty member to join us in pursuing the department mission of innovation, excellence, evidence-based practice and generous service. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to teach and generate research in their area of expertise. The George Fox DPT program is housed in a new 17-million-dollar Medical Science Building in Newberg, OR. The state-of-the-art motion analysis laboratory includes force plates, foot pressure systems, marker-less 3D kinematic tracking, and electromyography as well as ultrasound imaging. Faculty experts in neuroscience, biomechanics, engineering, education and clinical practice work collaboratively across specialty areas to advance physical therapy. The successful candidate will fit into this team by leading research, teaching and service projects.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction, supervision, and counsel to students.
  • Participate in the identification and recruitment of qualified applicants for enrollment into the DPT program.
  • Participate in the life of the university community, and other duties as assigned by the Director of the DPT program.
  • Serve on committees as assigned by the DPT program director

Academic Responsibilities

  • Teach entry-level DPT students in areas of expertise consistent with accreditation standards and current evidence.
  • Utilize state of the art strategies for effective classroom instruction.
  • Assess student performance in meeting standards for state-of-the-art physical therapy practice.
  • Participate in curricular design to adapt and improve entry-level education in the area of expertise.

Scholarly Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a scholarly research agenda in an expertise area specific to physical therapy or related area of health care.
  • Conduct and publish research area of expertise.
  • Identify sources for and participate in the preparation and implementation of grants.
  • Maintain a program of scholarly activity appropriate with academic rank.

Position Requirements

  • Earned DPT degree (or equivalent) in physical therapy.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Oregon.
  • Earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc or equivalent) in physical therapy or related area of study
  • Previous academic research or teaching experience
  • Design and conduct independent and/or collaborative research in clinical education or related areas.
  • Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.

Accountability

This faculty position reports directly to the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Director.
