Assistant Professor of School Psychology

George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty position in the Graduate Department of Counseling, to begin in August 2018. This position includes the duties and responsibilities of a Program and Clinical Director, teaching and the supervision of internship students. The program provides the academic instruction, practicum and internship experience required to be licensed as School Psychologist in the State of Oregon.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching courses within the curriculum of the Graduate Department of Counseling such as Academic Assessment, Introduction to School Psychology, Exceptional Child, Research Design, Supervision of Intern students, and a Graduate Portfolio project.
  • Ability to develop and sustain an ongoing program of relevant scholarship.
  • Participation in the work of the department and the university, including advising and serving on university committees as needed.
  • Participating with peer faculty in the interviewing and acceptance of prospective students.
  • Participating with peer faculty in the interviewing and hiring of new faculty.
  • Supervision of adjunct faculty.
  • Placement and supervision of practicum and internship students.
  • Maintaining an assessment library
  • Maintain contact with National and State organizations such as NASP and OSPA and encouraging students to join and participate in these organizations
  • Participating in National Certification activities

 Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field preferred but not required.
  • A valid license in School Psychology in the State of Oregon and a minimum of three years of experience in public education as a school psychologist.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area required.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.  Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
