Assistant Professor of Theology

George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty position in Theology, to begin on August 15, 2019.

Rank: Assistant Professor, but open to exceptionally qualified candidates at the Associate level.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Teaching
   1. Teach general and specialized courses in theology (open to specializations in either systematic or pastoral theology).
   2. Teach courses in pastoral ministry, spiritual formation, or ministry leadership.
2. Scholarship
   1. Actively engage in scholarship in theological guilds as called for in the George Fox University Faculty Handbook
   2. Demonstrate capability to connect academic theological discourse and the vibrant life of the church
3. Service
   1. Participate in the ongoing support of the seminary and university programs and curriculum.
   2. Support the relationship between the seminary/university and ecclesial communities
   3. Serve on faculty committees, participate in the life of the university and seminary community, provide academic advisement to students, and engage in other duties associated with fulltime faculty members.

Qualifications

• All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
• A PhD in theology or a related field. ABD will be considered but only if PhD will be in hand by August 15, 2019.
• Teaching experience, and commitment to support, traditional classroom, online, and hybrid course delivery at the graduate level.
• Demonstration of scholarship, such as academic conference presentations and peer-reviewed scholarly publications.
• Commitment to training both women and men as pastors and ministry leaders.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.  Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
