Assistant/Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering

George Fox University announces a tenure-track faculty position in Biomedical Engineering, to begin in August 2019.  We seek applicants with the ability to teach in a broad range of undergraduate biomedical engineering courses, giving priority to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following specializations: biomechanics, rehabilitation engineering, biosignal analysis and medical imaging, and/or design of medical devices. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in appropriate professional and scholarly activities, supervise internships, advise students, perform undergraduate research, and carry out other faculty responsibilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching a broad range of undergraduate courses in biomedical engineering.
  • Providing leadership for biomedical engineering program development, designing and fabricating biomedical laboratory experiments to augment the curriculum, and engaging with local industry to establish a network of professionals to support biomedical internships, senior capstone projects and career placement.
  • Active networking with Biology faculty and GFU Schools of Physical Therapy and Nursing
  • Ability to develop and sustain an ongoing program of relevant scholarship.
  • Participation in the work of the department and the university, including advising and serving on university committees as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field required. Applicants who are A.B.D. in a Ph.D. program will be considered, but must have an earned the Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
  • Previous teaching, research and industrial experience are desirable (but not required).
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential.
  • A record of relevant scholarship is essential.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
  • Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.  Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
