Faculty Administrator, Associate Professor, Director of Educational Leadership

George Fox University announces a faculty administrator position in the College of Education, to begin July 1, 2020.  We seek an individual with an established record of successful P-12 educational leadership to lead, advise, and plan the School of Education's educational leadership preparation programs, including the Doctor of Education and Master of Education degrees, and to collaborate with program faculty and SOE chairs to support leadership preparation across the P-12 spectrum.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Setting the vision and direction for the program, in consultation with the College Dean and Advisory Boards. The vision will include short and long-term program goals based on national professional trends and developments, local opportunities, the University and College mission, and faculty and university strengths.
  • Leading the assessment and continuous improvement of a high quality program through leadership, administrative oversight of program administrators, faculty and support staff, and curriculum development.
  • Encouraging spiritual wellness of faculty and students.
  • Maintaining the overall financial health of the program, including working with marketing and admissions to ensure enrollment of qualified students, cooperating with University Development to pursue external funding, and requesting and monitoring resources (budgets, equipment, facilities, etc.).
  • Developing and maintaining a qualified faculty, both full and part-time, through recruitment, faculty development, and annual faculty review.
  • Ensuring compliance with accreditation standards through record keeping, required reporting, maintaining published materials (e.g. website, student handbook), and being the liaison to the accrediting agency.
  • Being responsible for general administrative duties including faculty loads, budgeting, adjunct recruiting, supervision of support staff, graduate students, representing the program to the community, and other duties as assigned by the College Dean.
  • Provide leadership in the Administrative Licensure program including: recruitment and admissions; program and curriculum development; adjunct hiring and support; and assessment for program improvement and accreditation-related activities by mentoring and advising Administrative Licensure students
  • Supervise P-12 administrative practicum experiences along with site-based mentors
  • Participate in relevant professional associations/organizations at the state and national level to promote collaborative networking and partnerships
  • Participate in the work of the program, college and the university, including advising and serving on university committees as needed  

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive successful P-12 experience in an executive leadership role
  • Ability to work and lead collaboratively with colleagues, establishing strong relationships, to grow and maintain trust
  • Experience or strong potential in leading graduate-level programs, including evidence of culturally relevant, democratic, and inclusive philosophy and practices
  • Expertise to lead educational leadership faculty
  • Commitment to issues of social justice and equity in P-12 education 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with local educational partners
  • Excellent communication skills (in person, in writing, electronically, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned Doctor of Education degree
  • Experience with and an understanding of effective online teaching
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level
  • Experience developing partnerships with schools, communities, universities/colleges, and agencies

Salary and Rank

This position is at the associate professor rank in a non-tenure track assignment.  Faculty Administrators are awarded faculty rank at hire consistent with previous rank as a faculty member, or rank appropriate for administrators of similar experience, responsibility, and performance. Promotion is at the discretion of the Dean, with the approval of the University Provost, and is to be based on personal and program performance documented through annual review.  Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
