George Fox University announces a part-time, adjunct instructor position in George Fox Connect teaching General Education art courses. This position will teach an Introduction to Art course and other art-related topics as per the candidate's expertise. George Fox Connect offers eight-week General Education courses in an asynchronous online format.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare a syllabus and course site (all classes have an approved textbook, established learning outcomes, and sample syllabi).
  • Prepare content that reflects course learning outcomes and fosters experiential learning.
  • Ensure that students are fully known in an online learning environment.
  • Foster a safe and engaging learning environment for all students, encouraging transformational learning.
  • Encourage students to excel, providing consistent communication regarding their performance and progress in the course.
  • Use the Canvas learning management system for all course work.
  • Grade and return student work within one week of submission.
  • Complete GFC Adjunct Faculty Training and engage with peers at monthly meetings as able.
  • Stay informed about changes and innovations in your field.
  • Adhere to GFC and GFU policy guides.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in art or a related degree required; terminal degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in online teaching preferred.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students required; demonstrated experience in this area preferred.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
  • Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S. and be a resident of one of the following states: California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Washington.
