Staff Piano Accompanist

George Fox University announces an opening for a Staff Piano Accompanist, to begin August 15, 2019.  The successful applicant will support our music department primarily through contracted hours on a semester-by-semester basis.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Accompaniment for choral ensembles (rehearsals and performances)
• Coaching student ensemble/applied accompanists as needed
• Accompaniment for guest artists/faculty (instrumental or vocal) as needed
• Accompaniment for end of semester juries (vocal)
• Accompaniment for spring scholarship auditions (instrumental or vocal)
• Accompaniment for a Music theatre class in the fall semester
• Accompaniment for Junior and Senior degree recitals as scheduled (primarily vocal)
• Possibility of teaching a Class Piano course.

Qualifications

• A master's degree in a relevant field is required.
• Collaborative piano experience is required.
• A commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues is required.
• A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
• All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
• Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.

Compensation

The successful applicant will receive a contract totaling 150 hours of contact time each semester, at an hourly rate of between $20-38/hour, commensurate with degree and experience. Preparatory time outside contact hours is expected. Teaching of Class Piano, if offered, will be compensated beyond these hours on an additional adjunct contract.
