Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology

George Fox University announces a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology to begin in August 2023 in the Department of Biological and Molecular Sciences. We seek applicants with the ability to teach lectures and labs in General Biology (with a focus on cellular biology and genetics), Anatomy and Physiology, and other introductory courses and general education science courses as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Primary teaching responsibilities involve weekly lectures and laboratory sections General Biology and/or Anatomy & Physiology and the Cornerstone General Science Course: Science and Faith.
• Lectures are scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Labs are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday.
• Provide feedback to students and respond to student concerns and questions.
• Collaborate with Biology faculty members within the department.

Qualifications

• M.S./Ph.D. in Biology, Genetics, Physiology, or a related scientific field is required.
• Applicants should have professional experience in related industries and/or teaching experience in related fields.
• A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
• All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
