Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics

George Fox University announces a 1-year visiting non-tenure-track faculty position in Economics, to begin August 2020. It is primarily focused on our undergraduate economics program, although there may be opportunities to teach in our graduate-level business, management and economics courses as well.  As such, we seek applicants with the ability to teach in a broad range of courses, giving priority to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economic development, and international trade and finance.

This position is a one- year appointment for the 2020-21 academic year.

The work of our new colleague will include, but is not limited to:

  • Teaching broadly in the business and economics curriculum, including Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, and Intermediate Macroeconomics.
  • Teaching upper-level International Economic Development and International Trade and Finance courses.
  • Engagement with professional business and economics communities.
  • Participation in the work of the department and the university, including advising and serving on university committees as needed. 

 Qualifications

  • Candidates with a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field will be given preference, although candidates with a Master's degree and significant professional and/or previous academic experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching is preferred.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Visiting Assistant Professor level is anticipated. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
