Writing Studio Instructor Jobs at George Fox University - Faculty
Sample Writing Studio Instructor Job Description
Writing Studio Instructor
The Writing Program at George Fox University seeks to hire several adjunct instructors to teach in our innovative undergraduate writing program. In our model, students work toward the demonstration of proficiency in college-level writing during their first semester through a set of instructor-run workshops and the development of a writing portfolio. Instructors meet individually and in the classroom with students throughout the semester.
George Fox University, a Christ-centered community, prepares students spiritually, academically, and professionally to think with clarity, act with integrity, and serve with passion. Professors teach all truth as God's truth, integrating all fields of learning around the person and work of Jesus Christ, bringing the divine revelations through sense, reason, and intuition to the confirming test of Scripture. As a Christ-centered community, George Fox University is an institution that values diversity as an essential dimension of God's design for human communities. In seeking to become a more inclusive community, we especially encourage applications from women and candidates from racial and ethnic backgrounds that are underrepresented on our faculty.

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (M.A. preferred)
- Experience teaching or tutoring academic writing
- Can commit to a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule
- A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
- All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
- Candidates must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.
Instructors' primary duties would include:
- Evaluating student writing portfolios and writing assignments
- Teaching writing lessons
- Individual writing consultations with students
- Holding office hours

Up to nine (9) credit hours of work may be available in the fall. In the spring, candidates may have the opportunity to teach one or more sections of WRIT 111 Writing Portfolio Development, a three (3) credit hour course for students who do not achieve an adequate level of writing proficiency by the end of the first semester.
