Assistant Professor of Education/Director of Administrative Licensure

George Fox University announces a non-tenure track faculty position in the College of Education, to begin August 15, 2018.  We seek an individual with an established record of successful P-12 educational leadership to teach, advise, and plan the School of Education's educational administrator preparation programs, and to collaborate with program faculty and SOE chairs to support leadership preparation across the P-12 spectrum.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver quality instruction in advanced courses in the Administrative Licensure program
  • Provide leadership in the Administrative Licensure program including: recruitment and admissions; program and curriculum development; adjunct hiring and support; and assessment for program improvement and accreditation-related activities
  • Mentor and advise Administrative Licensure students
  • Supervise P-12 administrative practicum experiences along with site-based mentors
  • Participate in relevant professional associations/organizations at the state and national level to promote collaborative networking and partnerships
  • Participate in the work of the program and the university, including advising and serving on university committees as needed  

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive successful P-12 experience as a building and district office administrator
  • Ability to work and lead collaboratively with colleagues, establishing strong relationships, to grow and maintain trust
  • Experience or strong potential in graduate-level teaching, including evidence of culturally relevant, democratic, and inclusive teaching philosophy and practices
  • Expertise to teach a variety of courses in educational leadership
  • Commitment to issues of social justice and equity in P-12 education 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with local educational partners
  • Excellent communication skills (in person, in writing, electronically, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students is essential; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned Doctor of Education degree or interest in a doctoral degree program (consideration will be given to a tenure-track option for a candidate with an earned doctorate)
  • Experience with online teaching
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level
  • Experience developing partnerships with schools, communities, universities/colleges, and agencies

Salary and Rank

Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, with consideration for a tenure-track option for a candidate with an earned doctorate.  Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
